Charging communication might be a confusing topic due to the various standards like ISO 15118-2, DIN-70121, IEC-61581 etc. In this presentation we try to give an overview about these standards and their technical implementation. We present what is needed on the charging station as well as on the electric vehicle for AC charging as well as DC charging. Furthermore, we take a look at upcoming trends like bidirectional power transfer and the Megawatt Charging System from a communication point of view.
